Featuring DaD Virtual Living, [Krescendo] and MudHoney
“Hollywood, 1939. Amid the glitz and the glitter of a bustling movie town at the height of its golden age, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right, a beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that.“
And so starts my very-most-favorite-of-all-time attraction at Disney World. It’s the Tower of Terror and I love everything about it. The immersion begins with 1930’s jazz playing as you approach the queue and and continues as you head to the entrance. There are cracked walkways and overgrown gardens leading to the hotel lobby, which is covered with dust and cobwebs and decorated to make you feel as though you have stepped back in time to 1939, which is when this story begins.
The story unfolds on a vintage television in the library that tells the tale of a lightning bolt that strikes the tower and causes five people who were aboard the elevator to vanish along with the entire wing of the building. The scene then cuts to an out of order service elevator where Rod Serling, host of The Twilight Zone tells us;
- “The time is now, on an evening very much like the one we have just witnessed. Tonight’s story of The Twilight Zone is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This as you may recognize is a maintenance service elevator, still in operation, waiting for you. We invite you if you dare to step aboard because in tonight’s episode, you are the star, and this elevator travels directly to…the Twilight Zone.“
There is a lightning strike and the room goes dark for a moment before a panel in the library wall opens and guests are led to a boiler room, where they wait for the maintenance service elevator’s arrival…..and that’s just the warm up! If you want to hear the music and see more about the attraction check out the link in the credits.
I love talking about Disney but before I bore you tears let me tell you about my inspiration. It all starts with this Vintage Elevator from Dad Virtual Living and it is GORGEOUS! It is available at FaMESHed X. You must go admire it in person.
Adding to my scene is the Kensington Fireplace from Krescendo. It includes the mirror and and candles along with a hud for some color options on all pieces. The Kensington set is at the Black Fair which ends on the 19th so be quick and don’t miss it!
Last but not least are these beautiful chandeliers from MudHoney. The Celeste Chandelier made its debut at the Trunk Show and is now available at the main store. It comes with a hud allowing for color changes to the metal and the glass. It is beautiful and pairs perfectly with vintage or modern decor.
