I’m a sucker for animals in clothes, typically in art, ornaments and figurines and as I was thinking about the why, when and where this affection started, I think I figured out the answer. The very first book I can ever remember owning was a collection of Uncle Wiggily stories by Howard R. Garris and in fact I think I have blogged about him before. Clearly he made a lasting impression on my 6 year old self but it wasn’t only the stories it was the illustrations. Several illustrators were used throughout the years but the one that did the art in my book was George Carlson and I can spot his art a million miles away. All of the animal friends were dressed adorably and had great adventures and even met some bad characters along the way. I still own that book and its one of several prized possessions.
Do you have a favorite childhood book? I would love to hear about it! Now let’s get on to a little advice from…you guessed it…the rabbit.
