I admit it…it seems like I have jumped from winter photos straight to summer photos. Poor spring is feeling a little lost at the moment. I think that is just because I am really ready for some heat. I want to sit outside and let the sun bake my bones a little. I’ve heard that old people will feel cold when others are comfortable. I know my grandmother was that way and well…perhaps I am starting to feel those effects. Not that my mind feels old but my body sometimes argues the point. Don’t worry spring..I haven’t forgotten you. Your turn will come.
This beautiful iced tea set from Luc. Boutique inspired the photo and also inspired me to look at some tea recipes. Here in the south, sweet tea is high on the list of preferred beverages, not only in the summer but year round but this “yankee” girl is just not a fan of tea. I do like a nice chai latte though and since chai is black tea I guess that counts…right? A little?
I did find one recipe I am going to try. You have the option of adding tequila so this could not only be refreshing but could also induce “tree hugging”…don’t ask…trust me it wasn’t pretty! LOL
Summer Time Tea
Ingredients
14 cups water, divided
6 black tea bags
1-1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup thawed orange juice concentrate
3/4 cup thawed lemonade concentrate
1 cup tequila, optional
Fresh mint leaves and lemon or lime slices, optional
Directions
1. In a large saucepan, bring 4 cups water to a boil. Remove from the heat; add tea bags. Cover and steep for 3-5 minutes. Discard tea bags.
2. Stir in the sugar, concentrates and remaining water. Add tequila if desired. Refrigerate until chilled. Garnish with mint and lemon if desired.
