June is right around the corner and I have often wondered if it was a big month for Second Life weddings.  In the real world it has long been a popular month for weddings and I’m sure you have all heard of the expression “June Bride”.  This got me thinking about where that phrase originated and I learned a few interesting things about June weddings.  The most interesting….wait for it!

During medieval times a person’s annual bath (yes, you read that right — just one really thorough bath per year!) usually fell in May or June, meaning that June brides still smelled relatively fresh. The brides would have smelled more pleasant then than before but just to be safe, brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide their body odor. Hence the custom of carrying a bouquet when walking down the aisle!

I can’t begin to imagine the smell in the market…or anywhere for that matter! Gross!  If you want to read more about the history of June weddings you can do so here.

Today I am blogging some pieces from a new gacha by ionic.  The Happiest Day gacha has 17 commons and one rare.  Collect the whole set to use for your special day or even a few pieces for a unique touch to your own decor.  You can find The Happiest Day gacha at Equal10.
